Parvin is a former right side or attacking midfielder and right winger. He spent the majority of his career at Persepolis, where he made 341 appearances from 1970 to 1988, scoring 153 goals. He previously played for Kian Tehran and Paykan. One of the best scorer in the history of the Iranian cup with 33 goals, only forwards have more goals than him. He capped for Iran 76 times, scoring 13 goals, winning the AFC Asian Cup in 1972 and 1976, taking part to the 1978 FIFA World Cup as captain. He's considered a legendary captain for both Persepolis and Iran national team.
Regarded as one of the most prominent players in Iran history, Parvin showed excellent skills ever since he was young, especially the ability to easily dribble the defenders in front of him but also his solid passing and remarkable shooting ability, both accurate with either foot or the outside. He was distinguished also for his dominance, leadership, control of the field and fairness as he never received yellow or red cards. His leadership led Iran national team to qualify for the 1978 World Cup, where the team even gained one point against Scotland. An ever present player, he played 143 out of 146 possible matches for Persepolis in six consecutive seasons. During his first years as Persepolis player, Crystal Palace came to Iran to play a friendly match against the "Tehran Reds" and the English team, that won 5-1, was so impressed by Parvin that they offered him a contract. After the game, Crystal Palace's coach Bert Head said about the Iranian midfielder: « He's a wonderful player. Although he's not tall, he's extremely sharp and smart. He knows what he's doing with the ball, his eyes are open and fortunately, he doesn't use unnecessary roughness. He was the only player who worked well with the ball during the 90' minutes and his penetrating passes were timely ».
