INFO:Jabbari is a former central, attacking and defensive midfielder. He spent the majority of his career at Taj Tehran, making 173 appearances from 1965 to 1975, scoring 89 goals, winning two Iranian national titles and the 1970 Asian Champion Club Tournament. He previosly played for Rah Ahan. He capped for Iran 37 times, scoring 10 goals (other sources report 13 goals), winning the AFC Asian Cup in 1968 and 1972. Jabbari was the most scoring midfielder at club level in Iran as for many years no other player reached 89 goals in a first team. The record was broken in 2012-13 by Esteghlal's forward Arash Borhani, who coincidentally has the same number of appearances and goals for Iran as Jabbari. He's also the top scorer and assist-man in the history of the Esteghlal vs Persepolis derby with 6 and 5 respectively.
Regarded as one of the 50 best midfielders in the world in his prime, Jabbari was a creator of scoring chances as much as he was a scorer. He was distinguished for the ability to score with powerful long range shots that left most keepers no room and his excellent dribbling skills with which he often beat defenders and goalkeepers. He liked moving to the side and then run diagonally before shooting, passing the ball or crossing it right on the head of a forward. His presence in the field was brilliant and effective for the Iran national team as his abilities, especially his high dribbling skills, gave the offensive line a huge boost.
Jabbari's best performance with Iran is possibly the one at the 1972 Asian Cup: in a group match against Thailand, his team was losing 2-0 when he turned the result with a hat-trick within 8 minutes between 80' and 88', setting the record of the fastest hat-trick in the Asian Cup; then he scored the first goal for his team in the final won 2-1 against South Korea. The midfielder though recalled a specific goal he scored with Taj against Persepolis: a powerful free kick from a 40 meters distance. Another memorable performance was a friendly match against Nürnberg: Jabbari assisted Taj's first goal with an accurate pass towards the center of the area but then the German team turned the match 2-1; the Iranian midfielder had an even more glorious second half when he tied the game by snatching the ball from the hands of Nürnberg's goalkeeper who had a moment of hesitation and then he scored the decisive goal with an action of cleverness and intelligence as he started his offense from a distance of 20 meters, dribbled two defenders with elegant movements, delivered a ground and angled shot in the corner of the goal. Jabbari played a major role also in the 1970 Asian Champion Club Tournament final as he helped his team turning the result from a 1-0 disadvantage to a 2-1 win against Israeli team Hapoel Tel Aviv thanks to his brilliance and endless run in the final minutes of the match.
