INFO:
Hall was a side midfielder and inside forward. He spent most of his career at Liverpool, making 224 appearances from 1969 to 1976, scoring 21 goals. He retired after having experiences with Plymouth Argyle in 1976-77 and Burnley from 1977 to 1980. A short midfielder, Hall was extremely hardworking as he always gave his all for the team. He was clever, very efficient, and his style of play was all-action and no surrender. His breakthrough came in 1970 when he replaced an injured Ian Callaghan, who was usually deployed on the right flank. Hall impressed so much that when his teammate returned from injury, Callaghan was forced to move into a central midfield role. The Scottish midfielder wasn't flashy as he rarely made spectacular interventions, although he's remembered for his volley that defeated Everton in the 1971 FA Cup semi-final. Hall's biggest assets were his great resiliency and persistent will to fight for the ball. Once he regained the ball, he would quickly pass it to the teammate closest to him. Then he kept moving, reliably supporting the man in possession of the ball. He wasn't notably fast, but he was skillful and gifted with good close ball control. He was capable of making intelligent runs and getting past defenders with his mazy dribbling. He was remarkably accurate first time and, despite his short size, he was a threat in the air as he scored several headers.
