CoveringAttack/Defence Awareness Card: Defence MindedINFO: Paulo Roner de Lucena Alves was a left-back who spent most of his career at Fortaleza. Although he was originally right footed, he was moved to the other side because of the dispute with Louro, the starter in the position, and did so well in the left-back position that he remained for almost 10 uninterrupted years. His nickname was "o lateral operário" (the worker sideback) because, although he was not gifted with many technical qualities, he had the tactical obedience needed to make the rest of the team work, being fundamental in the positioning and tactical design of the team, as well as occasionally taking free-kicks. He won 11 Campeonatos Cearense with Fortaleza, Ceará, and Ferroviário, the most memorable being the 1973-1974 championship with Fortaleza.
