I think that his technique can go up to 85 at least for both sets. The ball was with him on a string, he had fantastic technique and good overview, if surrounded by three or four players, and then see you him emerging away from them with the ball still stuck to his feet. The ball was glued to his foot, and this is something I noticed in his Twente years as well. He was known as a dribbler rather than a passer. Thijssen was also far more gritty than classical playmakers. He’d put his foot in. Made a tackle. He used to swivel around in 360 degree circles holding off players. He was strong on the ball and could score goals.

"He was the quiet, averse to misplaced arrogance and boasting. His legs and brain did the work. Blessed with a large portion of healthy football sense. Rarely did you see the ball do anything other than it intended. Thijssen was definitely one of the most complete midfielders of the early 80’s.."


In his Twente years, he liked to go back to the goalkeeper, get the ball deep and maraud through the middle. His dribble was quick and he used turns to get off opponents. Basically cutting & turning became his synonyms. So, for his Twente set, I would also propose these:

- Attack: 76-> 78

- Shot Accuracy: 74-> 77 - he scored 2x over 10 goals (in 74' & 77'), a total of 43 goals from 74-78... while in Ipswich he scored a total of 10 goals, only 3 in 81'. The value might even be higher, it's a pretty impressive statistic.

- Response: 78->80

- Agility: 77->79

Additionally, besides TEC, SPA and LPA could go up for a point or 2 in both sets. BAL can go 1 point down

Also, he seemed much quicker to me than 76...maybe 77 Speed, 79 Acceleration

Add Special Ability: Tactical Dribble

For the Ipswich set, his nickname was "Sam McCloud" :)

Speed and Acceleration can be around 76,77, Agility 78, perhaps only consider lowering SA to 73. Add the Turning Skills Card and Tactical Dribble.

The rest is perfect.
