INFO:
Musenge is a former left-back, centre-back, defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder and right-winger. His career started in 1966 at Butondo Western Tigers where he played until 1973. He transferred to Mufuliwa Wanderers in 1974, spending there the rest of his career. He was forced to retire in 1981 as a result of a bad leg injury suffered in 1979 due to a tackle while playing for Zambia. He capped for Zambia at least 21 times from 1968 to 1979. He was team captain at the 1978 African Cup of Nations.
Considered one of the finest defenders in Zambia's history, Musenge originally was an attacking midfielder who could also play as right-winger during his time at Butondo Western Tigers, and he was quite the regular goal scorer. After joining Mufulira Wanderers, coach Samuel Ndhlovu noticed Musenge's defensive qualities and decided to turn him into a defender. As a result, he made himself known for his exceptional defensive skills and versatility across the back-line. He initially settled in the centre-back position where he proved to be composed, a good game reader, and unbeatable in the air. However, he could barely play in the national team due to the super defensive pairing of Dick Chama and Dickson Makwaza. Musenge worked extremely well with Freddie Mwila as the two respectively defended and attacked with character and personality. The defender would also go forward with confidence, skill and endurance. In 1971, he initially had the chance to play as defensive midfielder following a second-half of a match in that role as substitute for Richard Stephenson. He eventually cemented his spot as regular started as a left-back which was his position also at the 1974 African Cup. He once again was a centre-back in the last years of his career after Makwaza and Chama retired in the mid-1970s.
