Attack-MindedINFO:'Pichichi' Trophy for the top scorer in the Spanish League in the 71-72 season, Porta was a very skilled striker inside the box, very smart, although he only hit it with his right. He had a nose for the goal, a lot of ability, a lot of cold blood to control the plays, he was also capable of scoring goals with volleys or headers, he had a very powerful jump. It took them a while to see that Porta had the goal in his legs, they didn't trust him 100%, but the fans and he himself did. He did not have a powerful shot, his left only served to avoid being lame, he did not go well with a header, and his physical conditions were very limited. However, we have seen the mañico score red-and-white goals with a bang and for all tastes, including the most spectacular ones ever seen, a bicycle kick, on the throw-in with the hand of the opposing goalkeeper, which was unjustly disallowed by a referee of bad memory. Porta was a footballer of little flesh and of medium height, so he could not be the typical striker who fights with opposing defenses. But in return he was elusive and clever like no one else to get high and take advantage of the slightest opportunity that came his way. In his best season, 71-72, with Vicente serving golden balls and with Barrios by his side opening defenses, he knew how to exploit his qualities and get the only Pichichi in the history of Granada.
He was not a burly and attacking young man, he was not a tank-type striker whose success was based on physical strength, on the contrary, his 1'70 and scarce flesh did not allow him to be that type of center forward who could go to the clash with opposing defenders. His strength was his intelligence coupled with a lethal juggling act with the ball controlled in the last meters, those last meters where the games are decided. He was always in the right place where the ball fell and that was where he exploited his qualities, pushing the ball into the net.
