INFO:Diarra is a former left-back who started as centre-forward. His spent his career at Hafia FC in the 1970s and 1980s, being part of the club during the latter part of its golden era. He capped for Guinea at least 27 times between 1976 and 1981.
Nicknamed "Pelé" in his youth while playing as a centre-forward, he was turned into a left-back by Hafia's coach Petre Moldoveanu. Diarra was the nicknamed "Becken" for the alleged similarities between his style of play and defensive abilities and that of the German legend Franz Beckenbauer. Diarra was known for his skill and perseverance that were a key in helping Hafia to win the African Champions League for the third time in 1977, also earning him a prominent role in the Guinea national team. Diarra was usually hard on his opponents but never violent. He was athletique, agile with his right foot, and capable with his head. Furthermore, Diarra was good at counterattacking, sometimes surprising the opponents with his bursts forward and sudden, thunderous shots due to his early years as a striker.
