INFO: In 1968, Coritiba urgently needed a left-back and sought out Nilo, from Rio Grande do Sul, who had been discovered by Internacional but was playing for São José in Porto Alegre. And in his first year at the club, he provided the assist for Paulo Vecchio's goal that secured the 1968 Paraná State Championship and was called up to the Brazilian National Team. Champion of the Torneio do Povo in 1973, two-time Paraná State champion in 1968-1969 and five-time champion from 1971-1975, Nilo is the third player with the most official competitive appearances for Coritiba, and the one with the most international matches, thirty-nine in total.

Besides being a good attacking player, he tackled the ball without committing many fouls. He was never sent off. Short and stocky, he gave no one an inch. Covering the defense was his forte. How many balls, destined for Coritiba's goal, did Nilo deflect? Countless. Dozens. He was loyal. Loyal to Coritiba. Especially on days facing their rival. He won about five state titles with Coxa. He hung up his boots at Palmeiras, in Santa Catarina, at the age of 32.
