He is often referred to as one of the best defenders in the history of Ceará Football, being known for his strength, quality and willpower on the field. He was considered a hot-headed player who eventually made unnecessary fouls. He won 6 Campeonatos Cearenses for Fortaleza, and was part of Fortaleza's runner-up campaign in the 1968 Taça Brasil.
