Dieter Brenninger was part of the greatest ever Bayern winger partnership with Rudi Nafziger. He played as left winger and centre forward, had good scoring capacities but was also good provider, his crosses and passes were the big source of Gerd Muller's goals. Brenninger was mobile and intelligent player who was very good in quick combinations in attack, had good pace and shot. His first touch wasn't great but he was decent in heading and dribbling. Dieter Brenninger went through from 1954 to 1962 in his home club SpVgg Altenerding. Before the last year of the Oberliga Süd, 1962-63, signed a contract with Bayern Munich. He was behind Rainer Ohlhauser (24 goals), the second best striker Bayern. From 1962 to 1965, he completed 86 games for Bayern Munich, scoring 50 goals. Brenninger also scored the first goal for Munich in a European club competition: On 16 October 1962 was won by FC Bayern Munich in the first Round of the Fairs Cup first leg against FC Basel 3-0. National culminated in the double-winning season of 1968/69 with coach Branko Zebec and is underlined by the four DFB Cup victories in the years 1966, 1967, 1969 and 1971. The duo "Muller-Brenninger" achieved in the 1969/70 season a total of 49 goals - so far a new record for a striker pair. International projects in this phase of winning the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1967 against Glasgow Rangers and the semi-finals against AC Milan 1967/68 out. On 4 June 1966 in Frankfurt with a 4-2 success against MSV Duisburg for the first time won the DFB Cup, marked "Mucki" Brenninger with two goals. Bayern were second in the championship behind the defending champion Borussia Moenchengladbach and the fourth time - with a 2-1 win in extra time over the first FC Köln on 19 June 1971 - DFB Cup winners. After nine rounds - from 1962 to 1971 - Dieter Brenninger ended his time at Bayern Munich and signed for Young Boys. From 1965 to 1971 he had played 190 Bundesliga games and scored 59 goals in 30 European Cup and participated in 29 DFB Cup matches for Bayern. After a round in fifth place with Bern in the National League A and he gave after the offer of VfB Stuttgart, and returned to the 1972/73 season. VfB Stuttgart came with the addition Brenninger in the season 1972/73 the sixth and qualified for participation in the UEFA Cup competition 1973rd The former Bayern striker had completed 27 games for the Swabians, scoring nine goals. From 1972 to 1976 graduated "Mucki" Brenninger for Stuttgart Bundesliga 81 (15 goals) and 18 second division matches (1 goal). After finishing his football career was from 1979-2007 Dieter Brenninger representative and sales manager for Erdinger. On 10 May 1969 in Nuremberg Brenninger debuted at the World Cup qualifier against Austria in the senior team.
