Mordechai "Motaleh" Shpigler is a retired Israeli footballer, and manager. Shpigler is placed second in Israel's all time goalscoring list, with 32 goals in 83 caps. He was very skillfull and inventive splayer with offensive attitude. He played in Maccabi and NT more as a striker but in NT also as a midfield playmaker. Meanwhile in France he acted more as a midfielder. Player with good technique, dribbling, one-two's and fierce shooting with both feet. Beside strong shot Spiegler was also strong and rawbone player with good technique and mobile striker. Gifted playmaker with good passing and heartbeat of his NT. He scored Israel's lone goal in World Cup history in a 1-1 draw against Sweden. That goal was one of the best long range goals in history of the World Cup, when he beat Ronnie Hellstrom with a fantastic 30 meters volley which was his main weapon. He had great variety of shots, he could score from distance or place it slower and even lob the keeper.

He was chosen as the Israeli Player of the Year a record four times, in 1967/68, 1968/69, 1969/70, and in 1970/71. Spiegler made his international debut for Israel on 2 January 1964 against Hong Kong. He took part in the Israeli win in the 1964 AFC Asian Cup, and scored 2 goals at the tournament, which made him a joint top scorer of the tournament. Spiegler captained the Olympic team at Mexico City 1968 which reached the Quarter-Finals, losing to Bulgaria by a draw after the match ended 1-1. He remains Israel's record goalscorer, with 33 goals in 83 caps. He was nominated as the best Israeli player of the last 50 years by the Israel Football Association in the UEFA Jubilee Awards in November 2003. He was top goalscorer of Israeli Premier League 3 times, in 1965-66, 1966-68, 1968-69. His major achievement was helping Israel qualify for the Football World Cup 1970 in Mexico.
