Attack / Defence Awareness Card: BalancedINFOS:Dominique Bathenay was the best example of French total football. Complete midfielder and later defender, he could defend, create and score. Very strong and endurable player who covered a large part of the field, capable of sending good long balls, had very powerful shot and scored some goals from distance, he also had good pace and skillful footwork, good heading abilities as well. Bathenay we retain most of his career with the Greens, with whom he won three championship titles in France, three Cups in France and especially his performance in the European Cup, where his goal scored in Liverpool in March 1977 is still fresh in our memories, and his shot on the square bar of Hampden Park in Glasgow in the final against Bayern lost May 12, 1976. The long passage to Paris SG was marked by two new cuts of France. Bathenay end his playing career where he will begin to Sète and coach in 1986, succeeding Slobodan Miloszavzevic. This coaching career will not be up to players: all of his experience in Sète, Reims, Monastir, Saint-Etienne have been unsuccessful. In Saint-Etienne, he succeeded in March 1996 to Elie Baup before being replaced in the month of June by Pierre Mankowski, could not save the ASSE from relegation in D2. Bathenay made some brackets in his coaching career by becoming director of a company or insulation NMC Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Coupe de France. However, wishing to question the desire to always tortured terrain and July 2000, he took the reins of Nîmes Olympique: again, this experiment was very short since January 2002 he was dismissed and replaced by Boissier. In May 2002, he gave a new direction to his career by taking control of the team of Seychelles (6 months contract) team he will lead during qualifying for the CAN 2004. Back in France, it is not long in finding a club: 23 January 2003, he became the coach ... Green Sedan, replacing Henri Stambouli, fired for poor performance. IT itself will be dismissed April 20, 2004 and replaced by his deputy Serge Romano, while Sedan crawls to a disappointing eighth place in Ligue 2. He then lead the Qatar Olympic team and the UAE, as an assistant to Bruno Metsu, before becoming DTN in the Federation.
