Former German defender from great Koln side of 70's. Konopka was right back with offensive attitude who started the attacks from the back line but he was also good and sharp in defensive duties. He started as striker but was soon moved to defence where he was very useful in both defensive and offensive duties. Harry was good men marker, very strong tackler, great fighter and very fast player. Konopka also had good crosses from the flank and powerful shot, physically also pretty strong and musculous, very determinate in tackling. Born in Düren denied 1970-1983 335 league games for Koln and scored 21 goals. Konopka already won his first title with the A-youth of the FC, which was then coached by Jupp Roehrig, he became German champion in 1971. In the final of the men Decker scored two goals despite an ankle injury. One of his main goals in the professional team achieved 1977 in the derby against Borussia Moenchengladbach. The 5-2 victory for the first FC Cologne paved the way for the third time and so far last German championship of the FC. In the same season the team also won the DFB Cup and thus ensured for the successful season, which was allowed to see the FC now. Even in parallel to his football career, he took care of the life after professional football before: First, he served an apprenticeship as a clerk at Kaufhof, he later joined an apprenticeship as a commercial clerk successfully. Even today, he attended all home games of the first FC Cologne. Private remains outside of work for Kraft Foods and three grandchildren, however, little time for football. Konopka, however, is still common in the office of the first Encountered FC Cologne. He maintains very close contacts there to Özat Ümit, contact with Konopka recorded after he had seen in the movie "60 years old 1st FC Cologne" as Konopka filled the position of "offensive defender". Between the two since a close friendship has formed. In addition to the DFB Cup in 1977 and won the Double in 1978 than last Konopka title with FC 1983 the DFB Cup. Konopka was playing for the national team in 1978 and 1979 and twice took part in the FIFA World Cup 1978 in Argentina. That he was called only twice was because his position was then occupied by Berti Vogts. 1983/1984 of the "rustic? Defender played one more season for Borussia Dortmund before the football boots he hung up the boots. Harald Konopka was during his time at FC extremely popular. It was therefore only logical that it fits perfectly with the ultimate GeißbockElf the first FC Cologne, was elected at the founding of the FC Museum in 2004 as the FC-Super-Eleven 60th Birthday of the first FC Cologne 2008. Harald Konopka was active in his pro career next to the job as a coach, and resulted in the 90 years, the SSG 09 Bergisch Gladbach from the national league in the league.
