INFO:Willi Neuberger was ultra versatile player who played all positions but mainly as left sided winger/midfielder/defender and as libero which was his favourite role. His slaloms from back line and quick one-two passes with his teammates were legendary, often resulting in goals. He was very fast player who run 100 meters in 11.0 seconds and two-footed. Player with good technique, skillful dribbler and vision for making good pass. He was excellent crosser of ball and very endurable. He had powerful and precise shot, scored from all angles, distances and even directly from corners and free kicks. Neuberger had good sense of anticipating and improved also his positional play throughout his career which enabled him to play well as sweeper despite his light physique. Neuberger began playing until 20 Age at his home club TuS Röllfeld. In 1966 he completed a trial with Kickers Offenbach, but was not required because there we would have no 'unfinished' players. Instead, he came to Westphalia to Borussia Dortmund, where he, as well as his subsequent player stations, quickly became a crowd favorite. Two years later, Neuberger became an international player, but was appointed after two senior international games no more, although he had particular criticism for his second (and last) match against Brazil confirms good performance. He won two caps for West Germany in 1968. In his place the Dortmund team-mate Sigi Held was preferred on the left wing position, was at first used primarily to Neuberger. During his long career Bundesliga from 1966 to 1983, where he played for Borussia Dortmund, Werder Bremen, Wuppertal SV and Eintracht Frankfurt, Neuberger was used on almost all field player positions. Willi Neuberger celebrated the greatest success with Eintracht Frankfurt. There it was established in 1975 and 1981 DFB Cup winners and 1980 UEFA Cup winners. Neuberger, with 520 league games for many years was a record league player until he was surpassed by Klaus Fichtel.
