Hans-Jürgen Dörner was legendary footballer from East Germany. I saw many great defenders over the years and years, but the only one who impressed me more than Dörner was Gaetano Scirea the best defender in history. Dörner was very versatile player, capable of playing in any position on pitch with fantastic sense of positioning and anticipating. Not very strong physically and pretty short (175 cm) for defender, but his technique was brillant, his passes from the back excellent, speed very good and his dribbling slaloms were legendary. He had also strong shot, was able to score from free kicks, always very calm under pressure, never panic when in ball possession and his vision was outstanding. Dörner's playing career began in 1960 with amateur club BSG Energie WAMA Görlitz and he joined Dynamo Dresden in 1968 where he won 5 first division DDR-Oberliga titles and 5 FDGB Cups (East German Cup), twice winning the DDR-Oberliga and FDGB Pokal double. He captained Dynamo Dresden from 1977 to his retirement, and is the clubs most decorated captain and he was voted the teams greatest ever player in 1999. During his time at Dynamo Dresden the club only finished outside the top 3 in the DDR-Oberliga once which was in the season 1982-83 when they finished 7th. He captained the team to their best European seasons, twice reaching the Quarter finals of the European Clubs' Champions Cup in 1977 & 1979. He also guided his team to Quarter finals in the 1975/76 UEFA Cup and both the 1984/85 & the 1985/86 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. This was seen as a big success against teams from europes big leagues. Dörner scored an amazing 70 goals in 400 games for Dynamo Dresden which is a record for a defender in the DDR-Oberliga. He distinguished himself during his career by being named East Germany's player of the year three times (1977, 1984 and 1985) - the only East German player to do this besides goalkeeper Jürgen Croy. He was capped 100 times for East Germany, winning a gold medal as part of that country's team at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. His time as a player ended in summer 1985 and he first took on the role of trainer for the East German Olympic squad in 1990. After German re-unification he coached the Olympic youth side of the united country. From 6 January 1996 until 20 August 1997 he was the trainer for Bundesliga club SV Werder Bremen. Currently he coaches Radebeuler BC 08 in the city league known as the Bezirksliga Dresden.

JeanMarc, are you really sure about "only" 72 in attack? It looks quite funny that a guy who was mostly the starting point in the Dynamo attacks? Dörner was able to both pass & score was a fantastic playmaker and ends up on an attack level with Franco Baresi who was maybe a better defender but who was never on a level with Dörner when it comes to offensive skills. IMO Dörner definitely should get a boost in attack, even a green value would make sense here..

Certainly, raised to 76..It's enough, I don't think he should sit on same level as Johnny Metgod..

There sets have been originally made few years ago, surely there are many set to refresh a bit..
