INFO:Kiril Ivkov was one of the best ever Bulgarian defenders, if not the greatest. One on one, Ivkov was unbeatable, his calmness was influencial, he was the team captain, a great reader of the game, and a player never falling out of form. As the last man in the defense, he has an enviable composure, which helps him to act calmly and accurately even in the most tense moments. He thinks a few steps ahead and anticipates the intentions of rivals. In this way, he brings security and peace to the defense, which is almost unshakable. Always cool and calm, rarely crossed the midfield line. He was good in right timed tackles and interventions as well as good in making long passes with outside of his boot. He played for Metalurg (Pernik) (1960-1966), Miner (Pernik) (1966-1967), Levski (Sofia) (1967-1978) and Ether (1978-1982). Ivkov collected 323 matches and scored 15 goals in the Bulgarian top division (293 games with 5 goals for Levski, 18 games with 1 goal and Ether 12 games with 1 goal for Miner). With the team of Levski he won four times title of Bulgaria's league (1968, 1970, 1974 and 1977) and four-time winner of the Bulgarian Cup (1970, 1971, 1976 and 1977). Footballer № 1 in Bulgaria for 1974 and 1975 and winner of the Cup for sportsmanship in 1975. He played in 44 matches and scored 1 goal for the A national team (1968-1979) 2 matches for "B" national, with 7 games 1 goal for youth selection. He participated on WC 1974 in Germany (3 matches). Olympic Games silver medalist, 1968 in Mexico. Ends VIF "Georgi Dimitrov". "Distinguished Master of Sport", 1973 Awarded Bronze Medal of Labour in 1968. For Levski played in 30 games and scored 1 goal in European tournaments (two European Cup games, 12 games with 1 goal in 16 games and the Cup Winners Cup UEFA Cup ). Cool, calm and confident defender with timely and adequate interventions. An example of sportsmanship. After the termination of his active career Ivkov turned in a coach of Levski (1985-1987, won the national cup in 1986), Ether, LEX, Sliven, Spartak (Varna), Etnikos (Cyprus) and Blacks. Assistant coach for the A national team. Member of sport technical commission in FC Levski.
