Vladimir Kaplichny was one of the leading Soviet defenders. Tenacious and strong defender, Kaplichny was able to make a cover for Khurtsilava's constant offensive moves in NT but also to join the attack himself in club, but not too often though. He was good man marker with solid pace and was very good in aerial battles as well. Very combative and brave player who formed a fantastic central defence pair with Albert Shesternev at CSKA. Soon after its debut at CSKA, V. Kaplichny was paired with A. Shesterneva strongest duo of central defenders of the country, who spoke for the team and the Soviet Union. He was cool and confident player. Distinguished, above all, great game selection. Kaplichny was selected among the "Top 33" - 5 times (three times under the number 1). Vladimir Kaplichny (b. 2/26/1944, the, MSMK). As football began play in 1956 in Khmelnitsky. Since 1962 - a team of masters of "Dynamo" (Khmelnitsky), in 1963-1965. - In the SKA (Kyiv), in 1966-1975. - In CSKA. In the championships of the Soviet Union had 288 matches and scored 5 goals. Champion of the USSR in 1970 for the USSR national team had 62 matches. Silver medalist at the European Championships in 1972, a bronze medalist in 1972. In 1978 he was the coach of CSKA, coached SKA (Lviv), SKA (Odessa), chief of SKA (Kyiv) and Ukraine's national team. Vladimir died in 2004, aged 60.
