INFOS:

Ivan Ćurković is legendary Bosnian keeper and one of the leading keepers of his generation. Relativly short for a keeper, Ćurković had excellent reflexes and jump, both horizontal and vertical. He wasn't afraid of leaving the goal line but it didn't always end too god, had solid positioning on the line but wasn't impressive on shots from distance. Ivan had great authority, commanded well the back line and was pretty fast for a keeper. With 1.79 m for a goalkeeper not very tall Ćurković Ivan began his career in his hometown at FK Velež Mostar, where he made his debut at 17 in the top league, and the age of 20 moved to FK Partizan Belgrade. At the 1964 Olympic Games, he guarded the gate of the Yugoslav selection, which was eliminated in the quarterfinals against the GDR. At Partizan he was at first but in the shadow Šoškić of Milutin, but it belonged to the squad as the club in 1965 his only Yugoslav championships during the next eight years, won in the season 1965/66 to reach the final of the European Cup thrusting the national champion. He later became the A-national team, where he, during his international career was not, however, the No. 1 permanent - especially Enver Maric and Ognjen Petrovic presented too much competition for him dar. The two major tournament finals for Yugoslavia in the 1970 could qualify (1974 World Cup and Euro 1976), found no Ćurković consideration, but in three qualifying matches for the 1970 World Cup. 1972 change, he was allowed to AS Saint-Étienne in the French Division 1, and there he has developed on and off the pitch for the leadership role of a very young team Ivan Ćurković collected with the Greens -. "The Greens" and ASSE are the most common names for the players from the industrial city of Saint-Etienne - title, was four times champion, including three in a row, and three times Cup winners, taking 1974 and 1975 were even two doubles. In 1976 he reached the final of the European Champions Cup, in which he was defeated only once (by Franz Roth), which is the final opponent, however, was enough to Cupgewinn. Already in the semi-final against PSV Eindhoven (1-0, 0-0) was "Curko" outgrown itself and the striker had brought the Dutch to despair: "A goalkeeper who alone is able to discourage the enemy ... and the game play on the can make the head ". In retrospect, the calm, objective player is considered one of the best and give thanks to its ability to support the players and they entrain, one of the most important Goalkeeper of the club's history. He dominated the entire penalty area and prepared himself thoroughly for every game the opposing qualities of the assailant. After a defeat at SEC Bastia, on the third day of the season 1980/81, had to vacate the now 36 year old his place in goal for Jean Castaneda and was no longer considered in the same league as coach Robert Herbin. He had been in 1972, the preferred candidate of Herbin, had missed during the first eight seasons, only four of 304 point games and had also been in 33 European Cup encounters an important support of the ASSE. After re-title win in 1981 and the defeat in Cup Final (at 1:2 against Bastia Ćurković also sat on the bench), he ended his professional career and left the Greens. Overall, he played 591 games in Yugoslavia and France's highest divisions.
