INFO:One of the greatest legends in Romanian football history. Dinu was midfielder and sweeper. Cornel Dinu placed, his virility and impregnable technical-tactical intelligence, but also his brawny chest, in the path of the attackers towards his own goal. Very elegant player with trademark long diagonal 40 meters passes. In a period when Romanian teams relied, tactically, on the insistent reduplication of short passes, meant to ensure as long as possible possession of the ball (a reflex of fear of the opponent), as a player, Cornel Dinu fundamentally and radically innovated the expression of local football, imposing the 40-meter long English pass that eliminated the dead times consumed with the mioritic “don’t know it, give it to me” and gave the game verticality, penetration, dynamism and efficiency. Very skillful on the ball, dribbling effective on tight space and even scoring. Dinu began playing football in his home town of Targoviste in Metalul. Even at age 18 he moved to a Romanian top club and joined Dinamo Bucharest, where he remained until the end of his career in 1983 faithful. His debut in the Divizia A for Dinamo, he was on 25 September 1966 against Steagul Roşu Braşov. With Dinamo Romanian Dinu was six times champion and twice winner of Romanian Cup. He played for the club 33 European Cup games in which he scored three goals. He completed a law degree already earned him the nickname during his active career Procurorul. His first try was Dinu on the Romanian national team first May 1968 against Austria. Dinu graduated 75 caps and scored seven goals. Since seven of those games where he scored two goals, as part of the Olympic Games were held, they were in 1999 by FIFA subsequently removed from the country play balance of Romania, so that the corrected record now reads 68 games and 5 goals. After his retirement in 1983, Dinu was first assistant coach of Dinamo Bucharest. In September 1984 he took over the team as head coach, was in April 1985 but was dismissed again. Then he returned to his hometown and took over the local club in the CS Târgovişte Divizia B. Subsequently, he served in the Bucharest Metalul Divizia C. In the 1987/88 season he trained with AS Armata Targu Mures a re-rising star in the Divizia A. On end of the season, he moved to Oţelul Galati, who had qualified for the UEFA Cup. In the second half of 1988/89 season he took over Universitatea Cluj, where he left off in October 1989. In 1990 he was State Secretary at the Romanian Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and launched in the summer of that year, the elections in the Romanian Football Federation. On 8 April In 1992, Dinu back as coach and replaced Mircea Rădulescu from a Romanian national coach. Was at risk as the goal of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 1994, he was already in the summer of 1993 replaced Anghel Iordanescu, who secured qualification. He then worked as a manager for FC Naţional Bucharest returned, but in 1996 returned to Dinamo Bucharest and took over the presidency. After the dismissal of Marian Bondrea he jumped from November to December 1996 one in two championship games as interim coach for Dinamo. Already in April 1998, Dinu was again coach of Dinamo Bucharest, as he replaced Viorel Hizo. With Dinamo, he won the Romanian Cup in 2000 and 2000 and the 2001 Cup. Already in September 2001 he was dismissed and replaced by Ion Marin. From October 2002 to March 2003, he ran again as a coach before Ioan Andone Dinamo took over. In November 2007, he and Cornel Ţălnar briefly as a successor to Walter Zenga again head coach of Dinamo. On 19 July 2011 Dino suffered a myocardial infarction and was taken to the Clinic de Spitalul Urgenţ Floreasca in Bucharest. On 15 December 2011 his wife died, with whom he had a son together, the consequences of diabetes mellitus.
