Attack / Defence Awareness Card: Defence MindedINFO:Andrzej Zygmunt is former Polish defender. He was long time regular player for Legia Warszawa as central defender but he could also be occassionally used as the left full back. Andrzej was very good marker, strong in individual challenges with his rivals but also covering well the space left by his teammates. He had also solid footwork and ball control for a defender, pretty secure under pressure. Always trying to trap the ball and pass to the closest teammate rather than kicking it out of bounds. He also had good leap and decent pace, when he was on the left back position he knew to go forward sometimes and make useful cross although he didn't score too much goals throughout his career. He was very popular among the Legia fans and longtime Legia Warszawa player. He began his career in his native village. Player of the Legion was in 1964 and the club where he spent 10 years (in the league in his debut season, 1965/1966). During this period was twice national champion (1969, 1970), won the Polish Cup (1966, 1973). He also played for Polonia Warsaw. For the Polish national team Andrzey has played only once, on 22 September 1971, when Poland won 5-1 against Turkey in a qualifier for the European Championship in 1972.
