Well what else to say, Hellstrom was even better than I initially thought when I made some suggestions on old forum. Hellstorm is considered as the greatest Swedish goalkeeper of all-time. He is one of the most underrated GK in the world because of playing for Hammarby and Kaiserslautern which incredibly didn’t win any trophy. His best club achievement was a two times DFB-Pokal runner-up only. His style of play was not exciting but full of effectiveness and reliability. 1978 was his best year, was voted 6th in Ballon d’Or. All in all, He is rated as one of the best goalkeepers of the world during 70, but the truth is he was one of the best keepers in history of football. Player with amazing reflexes, known of saving the impossible shots not only the possible ones. Very strong player due to his athletic built, good in positioning but not the brillant. He had some problems in judging the fly of the ball from corner kicks same as Yashin did. He also had some spectacular reflex saves wuth one hand or with his legs, again same as legendary Yashin. Ronnie Hellstrom won 77 caps for Sweden and took part in 3 World Cups, in 1970, 1974 and 1978. He was selected as the best GK of the WC 1974 in Germany and again the best GK of the WC 1978 held in Argentina. He was also selected 2 Times Swedish Footballer Of The Year, in 1971 and 1978. But how good he was shows the fact he was honoured as 4 Times the best European Goalkeeper Of The Year, in 1974, 1977, 1978 and 1979. An honour surpassed only by Lav Yashin who won it for record 8 times.

Stop the PSD copycats...
