Superchi was a goalkeeper. He spent the majority of his career at Fiorentina, playing 227 matches from 1965 to 1976 and winning the 1968-69 Serie A. He left for Hellas Verona, where he played 126 games from 1976 to 1980. Then he was the second choice at Roma until 1984.
Superchi was gifted with outstanding agility, reaction, athleticism and a good leap. All these qualities made him capable to make superb and acrobatic saves, diving efficiently from a post to the other. However, he overused them and sometimes committed some mistakes because of which he was never called up to play for Italy. He also possessed great sense of position, quickness and timing when he had to leave the goal but didn't seem always effective at catching the ball, often needing to make the save in two times.
