INFO:Butti is a former defensive or central midfielder. His career began in 1968. He played for Verbania and Bari before transferring to Cagliari in 1973. He spent three Serie A seasons with the
Rossoblu, playing 82 matches and scoring once. He joined Torino in 1976 and, despite not being a regular starter, he gave his contribute for two years. In 1978 he was bought by Perugia, where he had his best time: 133 games and 2 goals from 1978 to 1982. He retired two years later after spells at Ivrea and Verbania.
Butti played in midfield in a defensive role but, when that position was covered by teammates like Dal Fiume, he stayed in a central midfield role. He and Dal Fiume had great chemistry and were the "motor" of Perugia. Butti acted, mainly as enforcer who pushed forward and set up the actions with efficiency. He was short, quick, gifted with good technique and dangerous with the ball on his feet thanks to accurate and fast dribblings usually followed by a pass. Because of these characteristics he was often put down by the opponents. Accurate with both feet, he had in his passing ability arguably the main feature. His excellent passes created many scoring chances, especially pinpoint crosses, either from central position, side or corner. He still fulfilled his defensive task when he recovered balls, taking advantage of his quickness.
