Sirena is a former left-back. His career started at Treviso in 1962. He joined Inter in 1964 but never played an official match in two seasons. He transferred to Roma in 1966, playing 52 matches and scoring 4 goals in three seasons. He had his best time at Hellas Verona where he played from 1969 to 1977, making 241 appearances and scoring 17 goals. He retired in 1978 after spending one season with Audace. He would've earned caps for Italy if he didn't have to compete with Giacinto Facchetti.
Gifted with a strong physique, Sirena was a powerful defender. He was effective when he rushed forward as he created a numerical advantage and supported the winger whenever he couldn't find enough space during the offense. Thanks to his height, he was excellent with his head, winning many aerial challenges both in defence and attack. In fact, he was considered a defender-scorer. He was left-footed but comfortable with the right too.
