INFO

Ivan "Ivica" Grnja is a Croatian football manager and former professional player. The unstoppable left winger whose dribbling and speed, above all, drove rival defenses and his markers crazy. The speeding demon with his explosive and agile runs on the wing followed by excellent crosses, created most of the goals for the club bomber and his childhood friend Ivan Lukačević. He played in three Osijek clubs: Željezničar (1967-1968), Metalac (1968-1972) and Osijek where he spent ten years (1972-1982) and played 520 games, after which he was one season in Sparta Beli Manastir (1982 to 1983). Even after that, he played one year at his old club Metalac (1983 to 1984). During his time in Osijek on two occasions he briefly played in the North American Soccer League for Toronto (1976) and the Tampa Bay Rowdies (1979). He coached Osijek (1991 and 1993-94), Belišće (1995-96) and Đakovo (1996). After that, he led one season 1996-97 football school in NK Osijek. Later he worked at the Croatian Football Federation from 1997 to 2000 as a regional inspector. After that, since 2000 he was the coach of the Croatian junior national team, and in 2005 Croatian national team for players under 21 years and the 2008 Croatian national team for players up to 19 years.
