INFO:Although Ljupko Petrović is famous as a coach, he was good player as well. Ljupko played mainly as inside left although he could play all attacking positions, mostly on the left side. Very mobile and endurable player, fast, technically gifted player, good scorer and creator as well. He began very early to play in NK Darda where he spent youth year (1963-1967). Senior football was played in Osijek (1967-1979), NK Darda (1981-1982) and in the United States where he played in the meantime, a small indoor football for the Buffalo Stallions, Kansas City Comets and Phoenix Inferno (1979 to 1982). He then went to coach in the youth facility in Osijek. He was remembered as one of the best players in generation of NK Osijek in the late 1970s , a generation that has made the promotion of NK Osijek in the first division after 21 -year absence, playing a total of 542 matches for the first team. Petrovic is the best scorer in NK Osijek history with 139 goals. As a coach, he began working in NK Osijek in 1982. The operation in the youth club that, after one year in the Osijek Metalac (1982-1983) and short-term work in the Spanish Espanyol as an assistant coach (1984), took the first group of Osijek. Later worked as a coach at Spartak Subotica, Vojvodina Novi Sad, Belgrade Rad and Red Star Belgrade. With Vojvodina 198. he won the Yugoslav Championship in football, and Red Star European Cup 1991. Abroad he worked with Spanish Espanyol, Penarol of Uruguay, Greek PAOK, Saudi Al - Ahlijem and Chinese Shanghai Shenhua and Beijing Guoan. In 1994 for the second time took Crvena Zvezda with which that same season, he won the double crown. During the first part of the 2000s led the Bulgarian clubs Levski Sofia with whom he won the championship of Bulgaria in 2001. Litex Lovech and with whom he was the winner of the cup 2004. In June 2004 third time became coach of Red Star, but due to poor results resigned. During the 2008 briefly coached OFK Belgrade, but resigned, this time due to health reasons and the situation in Serbian football. In 2008 it was reported that he became coach of Croatian first league Croatia Sesvete, thus becoming the first Serb to bench one Croatian Premiership club from the war in Yugoslavia. The 2008-09 season implemented in Vojvodina from Novi Sad, in October the 2010 returns to the first League in Croatia and takes over NK Zagreb.
