Drago Rukljač was one of the greatest ever playmakers in former Yugoslavia, with similar playing style as Gunter Netzer. Drago played as inside left, had excellent vision and great long range shot which made him good scorer and he was fantastic free kick taker. He was dangerous set piece taker, his crosses from the set pieces were usually half a goal. He was technically gifted player who could score even with his head, scored good amount of goals for a midfielder. He played for Prvomajska from Zagreb (1967), NK Zagreb (1968-1978., And 1979-1983), with whom he won promotion to the first league, for Hajduk Split (1978-1979), and finally for Metalac Zagreb (1983-1994). After a playing career dedicated to coaching call in low class clubs, engaged in a football school NK Zagreb. For Hajduk Split first played on the 14th August in 1977 for the championship of Yugoslavia against Dinamo Zagreb in Zagreb. He appeared in the starting lineup and scored a goal. Another goal was scored by Šime Luketin. They scored and the match ended with a 1-2 victory of Hajduk. Rukljač played 57 matches and scored 23 goals.
