INFO:

Vladimir Petrovic was born on 1st of July 1955. in Belgrade. He was named the best player of SFRJ a few times and the first sports person of Belgrade. After Hajduk Lion, where he started kicking the football, he continued in Red Star’s youth, junior and was a member of the first team for full three years, also captaining the trophy winning generation. His debut for Red Star was on 19th of July 1972. in a summer league of champions match against Hajduk Split (3:1) and until 12th of December 1982 he played 497 matches (258 of which were first division matches) and scored 117 goals. He won 4 Championship titles (1973, 1977, 1980. and 1981.) and one National Cup trophy (1982).

His first game for the national team was against Hungary in Belgrade (1:1) on 26th of September 1973.). All together he played 34 matches for the national team, his last being against Norway (1:3) in Oslo on 13th of October 1982. He took part in the World Cup 1974. in Germany and 1982. in Spain. He continued his football career as a coach for youth selections of Red Star. With his club he has won the National Cup (1996.), and went on as a coach of Radnicki Nis after coaching Radnicki from New Belgrade first. He was one of the coaching staff who spotted and coached Dejan Stankovic. He also worked in Minsk for a while. With the U21 national team he won the silver medal in the European Championship 2004. in Germany (final game against Italy in Oberhausen).

If there is a big football star that in some strange way was “hidden by a curtain” than that must certainly be Vladimir Petrovic. For a series of years, first ace of Read Star team and a standard member of the national team he wasn’t able to celebrate a golden jubilee of 50 games in national uniform, just like Dragoslav Sekularac (what a wrongdoing). He was known as one of the most intelligent football players of the after war history. His overview of the pitch, technical finesse of the game filled with filigreed moves, stylish dribble, imagination and mastery of precise and properly timed through balls could be the perfect base for all football books. Beside all that he also had an instinct for scoring.

Even today, Vladimir Petrovic “Pizon” is reincarnation of a football player that uses his head. Frane Matosic of Split said that Pizon possessed football intelligence that even our more successful and world’s super stars lacked. That comment came from a man who was well known by his hard words, was very stingy on compliments due to the high criteria he had. He played for the heart and excitement of the Red Star fans. Everything that came from the master of football, something Vladimir Petrovic truly was, was turned into perfection. He only had two disadvantages. He was not quick and he was not of physically strong constitution. In his case everything was a question of technical virtuosity and a brilliant mind.

He would find solutions that no one in the stand would be able to see. After him Dragan Stojkovic and Dejan Savicevic also possessed skills like his. Everyone recalls the time when the Executive Body of FSJ near the end of 1982 didn’t allow Vladimir Petrovic to move to Arsenal London, after the president Tomas Tomasevic insisted to stop the transfer worth a fascinating 750.000 pounds. The English wanted to have a player that would soften a game of the team from Highbury. Money was not an issue for Arsenal but Vladimir Petrovic had to satisfy the stringent rules of FSJ and wait for another six months, in spite of numerous interventions. When he did make the move to Arsenal the price had drastically fallen. For six months spent in the Arsenal uniform he was paid only 50,000 pounds.

Half a year in Arsenal: the fourth Red Star’s star reminded of a sad man. The Arsenal players idolised, but did not understand his game and through balls, which he turned into precise projectiles. They parted ways quickly and Vladimir Petrovic first transferred to Paris and then to Antwerpen of Belgium where he played for two and a half years.... However the foreplay of the dramatical transfer to Arsenal took place in Saragossa during the World Cup 1982... The national team players were promised premiums in foreign currency (a similar thing happened 1974. in Frankfurt when the promise was not held). As a result a massive disappointment was created among the players, so the generation of Vladimir Petrovic, Velimir Zajec and Safet Susic did not perform in Valencia not only because of the calls of Danish referee Sorensen. The fact is though that Vladimir Petrovic managed to stun and excite fans of all stadiums for a series of years in the uniform of both Red Star and the national team.

During the World Cup in Germany 1974. he was the youngest member of the national team, but he believed that he would carry the national flag in his generation within the next three or five years. That prophecy came true. He was a captain of Red Star for the full three years, the captain of the national team only four times, but the masterful games that he delivered are remembered more often. He was the inspiration of the win over Uruguay in Sarajevo 1980. (2:1), he single handily made sure the national team qualified for the World Cup in 1982. by being the hero of the match against Greece (2:1) in December of the previous year in Athens.

He played 497 games for Red Star (258 first division matches), but he is remembered for the brilliant games of 1980. when he was officially named the best player, by far, in SFRJ for that year. Today Vladimir Petrovic Pizon works as a coach whose deeds are respected and renowned. It is said that as a coach he has a sixth sense, that he knows how to “see the game” in his own way, to see even something invisible for the usual mortals. He learned his trade in Red Star, in a few of domestic clubs, worked in Byelorussia and proved all the critics wrong by breaking an unwritten rule that a great footballer does not become a great coach.

This is the way of that skinny boy, who started his football career in the uniform of a lower class Hajduk from Lion 1967, in order to put on the Red Star junior team jersey on 9th of June 1969. He was 17 times member of junior and 3 times member of U21 national selection, but he surely deserved, and everyone will agree with this, more that just 43 matches in the first national team. He put special mark of his unequalled playing career on the second final match in the UEFA Cup, which was player on 23rd of Mai 1979. in Düsseldorf against Borussia Mönchengladbach (0:1), whose team contained Lienen, Vogts, a brilliant Dane Simonsen, but also the famous “twelfth man”, Italian referee, Michelotti. The generation of Stojanovic, Jovanovic, Jovin, Muslin, Miletovic, Juric, Blagojevic, Savic, Sestic, Milosavljevic and Petrovic did not achieve their great goal, but did promote Coach Branko Stankovic and push stars like Vladimir Petrovic and his team mates into lime light. He was again the great and the best and the scouts of Arsenal London started to take notice of him.

Yes you are. We told you all the stats will be updated, there's no need you to write those kind of posts for players you've never heard about..

There are 5000 players in the database, there's some order we follow, we can't skip the order just because you wrote something is wrong, something we are aware of. They'll be updated but not immediately. It requires a lot of time to fix such a huge database..

Well, both JM and gurkenjoe93 have explained to you multiple times that the vast majority of the pre 90's players are going to be updated in the near future. And if you look at the players which already have been updated you'll see that most of the changes that you're demanding for seamingly each and every player in this forum are applied anyway, e.g. lower short and long pass speed, lower stamina etc. The only thing you need is patience. ;)
