Former defender from East Germany. Frank was defensive allrounder who played on all defensive positions but also in defensive midfield. He was most used as side back though. Big and strong player, gifted technically with decent pace and good crosses, he was also used sometimes as some king of playmaker in midfield who will receive the ball from defence and than send precise long ball forward. In 133 league games for the Yellow-Blacks he carried eight times, even in the scoresheet. " Frank Ganzera was not only in his time as a player quite important for Dynamo Dresden. He has remained the club as a player of the Self tradition . In particular, but I am pleased with his commitment as a court of honor. Until 1976 Ganzera denied for Black-Yellow 22 European Cup games against teams like Liverpool, Ajax and Juventus. In the legendary duel against Bayern Munich in the European Champions Cup in 1973/74 he led the sports community as a captain on the field. Frank Ganzera played 13 A- internationals for East Germany. In 1972 he took part in the Olympic Games in Munich. In the second round he and his teammate Dresdner Hansi Kreische were involved in the 3-2 win against West Germany. Even in the small final against the USSR Ganzera standing on the field . With a 2-2 draw took Ganzeras team Olympic bronze medal. After his playing days at Dynamo Dresden changed the toolmaker 1976 locomotive FSV Dresden, where he still worked until 1978 as a player and then as coach until 1980. Frank Ganzera is a member of the Honorary Council of Dynamo Dresden and guest at all home games of the SG Dynamo Dresden.
