Frison is a former goalkeeper. He spent the majority of his career at Palermo, making over 100 appearances from 1975 to 1981, reaching the 1978-79 Coppa Italia final lost against Juventus. He played for other clubs including Pescara and Torino youth team. A good goalkeeper, Frison wasn't strong but could make acrobatic saves, blocking even long range shots thanks to his reflexes, agility and jumps. He covered the goal well and was able one-on-one. However, he lacked of consistency and was too often out of position. In fact, he was replaced by the second goalkeeper in several occasions, always playing less than 30 Serie B games in every season with the Rosanero.
