Francis was a midfielder who played most of his career in Queens Park Rangers: over 300 matches and more than 50 goals. He played also for Crystal Palace, Coventry City, Exeter City, Swansea City, Portsmouth, Cardiff City and Bristol City. He capped 12 times for England and scored 3 goals between 1974 and 1976.
Francis always showed a high level of fitness and good technique since he was young. He was also a marauding midfielder, gifted with a lot of energy and a powerful shot. Therefore he was a constant danger for the goalkeepers. Unfortunately, some injuries at the end of the 1970s ruined his career, which otherwise would've probably been even more brilliant.
