Legnaro was a side-back. He played 85 matches for Alessandria from 1965 to 1970, 33 for Lazio between 1970 and 1972, 175 for Ascoli from 1972 to 1979 and retired in 1980 after a year spell at Taranto.
Legnaro was a short but strong and reactive defender, who stayed tight to the opponent without leaving a moment to breathe but also causing many fauls. He wasn't technically gifted nor had great style but had good speed and occasionally joined the attack, mostly to cross but also to shoot if possible. In fact he scored some goals when he played at Alessandria and Taranto. He played well at Ascoli with coaches like Carlo Mazzone, who only looks for practicity rather than aesthetic.
