Ceccarelli was a right-footed left back who could play also as sweeper. He's arguably Cesena greatest legend: a one-man club who holds the record for appearances with 591 from 1966 to 1985 and he was the team captain for ten seasons.
A consistent defender, Ceccarelli was a short player, charismatic, able in the aerial game, tough but fair in tackles. In fact he received only one red card due to double yellow in his career. He had good running ability and was an able crosser. Taking advantage of these characteristics, he pushed forward very often. Sometimes he took free kicks from where he could deliver long balls. Occasionally, he transformed in scorer with headers, shots from outside the box or prestigious volleys. He scored 10 goals in total.
