He was a relatively solid goalkeeper who didn't make many mistakes, and had a great jump which somewhat compensated for his small stature for his position, although he was physically weak which meant he could get "lost" in a crowd of players when crosses came into the box. He mostly stayed on his line although when he did leave it he showed pretty decent speed to come and collect the ball. He made some good saves at the tournament, although he had problems organising his defence which led to issues at set pieces. He was good at catching close range shots and headers but on more powerful shots from long range he often had to punch the ball into the ground before collecting it. His positioning was also slightly suspect at times but overall he was pretty decent goalkeeper, especially considering the amateur status of North Korean football in 1966 and his age.
