INFO (provided by me based on readings and some footage):

One of the most notorious centerforwards Brazil has ever produced, Toninho rivaled with Pelé in number of goals when both were together at Santos Futebol Clube. Toninho even managed to surpass "The King" sometimes in goalscoring records to the point of journalists and fans would ask themselves who would score more goals that season.
His playing-style was not very showy and he was not seeing as a virtuoso, but he could accomplish his functions pretty well, which was mainly to score goals. He had decent dribbling and technique, although for that time, the golden age for the Brazilian football, he was sometimes rated as average or possessor of medium skills.
However, his presence in the penalty box was far from being average. He could find the perfect timing to score goals either by headings or with the ball at his feet showing great reaction and opportunism, sometimes even stretching his leg to reach the ball and shove it to the nets. Nevertheless, he was able to perform some beautiful bicycle shots and fancy backheels when scoring goals too.
His presence at the 1970 WC was certain until politics interfered in his destiny. General Emílio Médici showed favoritism to Dario's call up (Dadá Maravilha) and the doctor of that NT alleged Toninho suffered from a sinusitis and the coach Zagallo did not call him for that tournament.
He has received the nickname "guerreiro" (warrior), later embodied to his name, because of his remarkable fighting spirit.
