Trivić was a legend of FK Vojvodina, and was one of key players in generation that won first league title for the club. He was tireless midfielder, primarily playmaker, but was very good in defensive tasks. One of those tasks was to guard Bobby Charlton in Euro 1968 semifinal and he performed greatly. He was technically gifted player with precise passes and was known as a fighter and leader on the pitch. He wasn't fast player. He's also known for his long range shots. He was able to keep the ball in his feet whenever is needed. In his game, he used both feet equally good. Although he possessed great individual quality, he preferred team play.
