He mostly played for FK Vojvodina, from 1961. to 1969. After that, he played for several French clubs - FC Paris, Olympique Marseille, Bastia and PSG. In first 2 clubs he spent just a season, in following 2 he spent 3 seasons in each.
Though he was fantastic keeper, he also liked to score from penalties. He is famous for his 1963. performance against FK Tresnjevka when he scored hat-trick, first keeper in history to do that.
In 1966. he made historical success with Vojvodina, winning Yugoslav league.
He played 18 games for national team, and was part of legendary game against Italy in Euro 1968. final.
