Attack / Defence Awareness Card: Defence MindedINFOS:Jeck was a toughest part of Standard's iron defensive line that won three Belgian League titles in a row (1969,1970,1971). Other three players in defense were Jacques Beurlet, Nico Dewalque and Jean Thissen. Interestingly enough, all of them started their careers as forwards. Jeck was an uncompromising fighter, with good positional sense and excellent reactions. All these abilities combined with raw strength gave him the reputation of formidable opponent for every striker. His technical and passing abilities weren't so good, therefore, he mainly stayed on his own half, trying to avoid organizing the attack. He let Nico Dewalque to do that and they were an excellent defensive duo. He's also known for conceding an unfortunate penalty against Mexico at World Cup 1970 which resulted in Belgium defeat and early elimination from the tournament. He reached his peak very early in his career and quit football before turning thirty.
