INFO:Habibi is a former centre back. He spent the majority of his career at PAS Tehran, playing there from 1964 to his retirement in 1972. He previously played for Shahin Tehran and Taj (later Esteghlal). He capped for Iran 26 times, winning the 1968 AFC Asian Cup as captain. In 1969, he was named Iran's footballer of year by Kayhan Sports Magazine.
Considered one of the all-time greats of Iranian football history, Habibi was a central midfielder in his youth career but was turned into a centre back. He was strong despite his thin physique and he liked challenging opponents one-on-one. He possessed perfect defensive leadership and a good jump to catch high balls since he was short for a defender. One of the pillars of Iran's defence, he formed an imposing and impenetrable defensive line alongside Mohammad Ranjbar and Heshmat Mohajerani.
