INFO:Novelli was a winger. He spent the majority of his career at Spal where he played from 1955 to 1957 and 1959 to 1965, making 178 appearances and scoring 39 goals. He played also for Prato, Sestese, Napoli, Sampdoria, Arezzo and Narnese, retiring in 1970. One of Spal's most exciting players of the 1950s and 1960s, Novelli was distinguished for his hastiness, excellent pace, agility and technical qualities. He often started the attack in midfield, sprinting forward as soon as he received the ball. A threat for any defence, he could dribble several opponents with ease thanks to his combination of speed and dribbling skill that added to his short physique. He then looked for space to send an accurate cross or pass to a well positioned teammate, proving to be a reliable assist-man. While he wasn't too prolific he could score remarkable goals in acrobacy, sometimes relying on notable shooting power, or even headers despite his lack of height. However, he scored most of his goals at the end of a series of dribbling or as soon as he got the ball at the end of a late run. Due to his frail physique, it wasn't hard for him to earn free kicks and penalties. Novelli's main position was left-winger but he was comfortable and often deployed on the right side too.
