Excellent playmaker who scored also lot of goals. Mainly inside left but also located deeper on the field in central midfield, capable of producing excellent passes and above all dribbling couple of opponents in a row. Peter had excellent ball control and vision, with good pace on the ball but lacked consistency and fighting spirit. In 1956 he moved to FC Neuhofen the stations and MTV 79 Munich in the youth department of FC Bayern Munich. From the season 1958/59, he played in the team of FC Bayern in the Oberliga Süd. From 1958 to 1963 he played in 134 league games, scoring 65 goals. At the start of the Bundesliga in 1963/64 he moved to local rivals 1860 Munich. Highlights were certainly the way into the final of the European Cup Winners Cup in 1965 against West Ham. In the years 1963-1969 he was the "Blue" in 130 Bundesliga appearances with 49 goals. In the summer of 1969 he moved to Austria to the Bundesliga Casino Salzburg and achieved until 1975, the end of his career, 32 goals in 164 Premier League matches. Under national coach Sepp Herberger, the technician was appointed only two appearances in the B national team in 1958 and 1959, to international duty in the A national team was not enough. The successor of Herberger, coach Helmut Schön, familiar just with the crucial World Cup qualifier on 26 September 1965 in Stockholm, Sweden against the debutant Peter Grosser. His second and final use in the national team had Peter Grosser then the 2-0 win against Northern Ireland on 7 May 1966 just before the 1966 World Cup in England. In the years 1974 to 1982 he was active as a youth coach at the Munich TSV Forstenried. More than half a dozen of his proteges from the TSV Forstenried followed him at the age of 18 years for SpVgg Unterhaching. From 1990 to 2011 Peter Grosser was Vice President of SpVgg Unterhaching. |
