INFO:Great playmaker who formed great striking partnership with Rudi Brunnenmeier. Hennes was deep-lying inside right, famous for his long passes and numerous assists. He had great technique, particularly excellent first touch and strong shot. He could create and score himself, was fast and mobile player often coming deep in defence to start the attacks. That's why he was exausted in last period of game, he also lacked consistency. The career of the blond midfielder started in the round in 1957/58 in the 2nd League West at ETB SW Essen. Kuppers came into the league to 28 games and scored six goals for the ETB black and white. A year later (1959/60) was the surprising DFB Cup winner of 1959. Max Merkel was recognized as coach of Borussia Dortmund, the art of the game and led his young half striker Exchange 1961 to 1860. The "Lions" won in the final year of the Oberliga Süd 1962/63 championship, and thus the inclusion in the newly created division. Kuppers played in two rounds in the south 57 matches and scored 16 goals. On 13 June 1964 celebrated the ex-Essen second triumph of the DFB Cup. 1860 won the final in Stuttgart against Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0. In the European Cup Winners' Cup 1964/65, moved into the final against West Ham United on 19 May 1965 a at Wembley. From 1963 to 1968 Kueppers ran in 120 Bundesliga games for 1860 and still controlled 47 Goals. In the summer of 1968 he joined the German champions the same year, the first FC Nuremberg. Kuppers retired from the Bundesliga and moved to Austria for SV Wattens in the National League. In the Tyrol, he became the top scorer of his new club, scored 10 in his first season, one year later 15 goals and was absent from both years not a single championship game. Hans Küppers ran in the 1971/72 season only in the fall for the new SSW Innsbruck, was involved in winning the Austrian Cup in winter and moved to Swiss club FC Lugano, where he ended his career after half a year. On 23 Hans Küppers debuted in December 1962 under national coach Sepp Herberger's 5-1 success at Karlsruhe Wildlife Park Stadium with a goal against Switzerland. The coach seemed to have found a replacement for its lost to Bologna Helmut Haller, but only under Herberger's successor, Helmut Schön, Kueppers 1965 came to more vocations. He played against Italy, Switzerland and 6 June in Rio de Janeiro in the 0-2 loss against Brazil. To participate in the World Cup in England in 1966 but it was not enough for Kuppers. In the first game after the World Cup, 2-0 against Turkey on 12 October 1966 in Ankara, he was able to make a goal for the DFB again. 1967 Helmut Schön confided in two crucial European Championship qualifiers against Albania and Yugoslavia to the playmaker qualities of Merkel's protégé. Since the 0-0 in Tirana on 17 December marked the EM-off, and the time in the national team for Hans Küppers after seven operations were over. The skilled draftsmen later returned back to his home city of Essen.
