INFO

Vasyl Yuriyovych Turyanchyk was a Ukrainian football player and coach. A strong-willed defender and midfielder, one of the leading Dynamo Kyiv players of his time. In addition to courage, speed, tenacity, the ability to be the first to meet an attacking opponent and lead the defensive formations of his team, Turyanchik saw the field well, i.e. was able to organize a quick counterattack, fully participate in it and successfully complete it. Changes in tactical schemes, as a result of which Turyanchik had to perform different functions on the field and play in different positions, made his game universal. It seemed that difficulties attracted “Iron Vasya,” who was omnipresent on the field, working for two, making tackles. Turyanchik was iron force in midfield and defence although he was initially a striker. Very tough and uncompromising player but not violent, excellent tackler with offensive attitude. He was very good in aerial play with acrobatic jump and scored some crucial headers. In the first half of the 60's, when the football world was arguing about the number of defenders on the field, choosing between the three of the dying "double-ve" Quartet from the "Brazilian system" and the five of "cattenaccioo" wise Soviet coach Viktor Maslov thinking about quality. And he brought his formula of defensive actions, a key figure in which the player became a new formation - the front center back (in modern football is identical to the position of the reference defensive midfielder). Over the next five seasons, "Dynamo" virtually ceased to skip goals and won three gold and two silver medals in the championship of the USSR. As a part of the team Vasily Turyanchik became four-time champion of the former Soviet Union (1961, 1966, 1967, 1968.), A three-time silver medalist (1960, 1965, 1969.) And two-time winner of the USSR Cup (1964 and 1966 .). In the list of "33 best" Turyanchik was listed three times - the first number (1966) and two times under the number 3 (1962 and 1967). He played 308 games in the USSR championships and scored 12 goals.
