Todor Diev is the greatest legend of Spartak Plovdiv. Very fast player, especially on the ball, powerful who'd eliminate opponents on the right wing like tornado, great scorer as well. He was very problematic guy. And he was not a football player, but an athlete. He started playing football in the barracks, just to be in the sports company. Otherwise he was squashing on the field, his defenders were tossing on his back and he was carrying them to the door. There was no technique, very often it was laughable of the audience. They throw the ball at his feet and he can't stop it… But his goals and runs on the flank are undeniable. He drank a lot, but he drank heroically. A bohemian man, he did not return to his wife for days because of his lovers. He divorced, and then one, the other… And the bad thing was that when he got drunk, his eyes could not see, and he got in the car to drive… There are many fatal accidents. Once he got drunk and smashed three cars first, and shortly afterwards hit three more and elsewhere innocent victims… Legendary striker is twice the top scorer of the championship in 1955 (13 goals) and in the season 1962/1963 (with 26 goals).
