INFOCan Bartu played mainly as inside forward and left winger, technically excellent player and some players in Italy used to say he was even better technically than Luis Suarez. Bartu was solid scorer, played just for fun since he comes from very rich family, physically little bit weak, stylish but lazy. He never run without the ball just waiting static for the ball. He began his sports career playing basketball section of Fenerbahçe, also coming to play in six games with the Turkish National. It was noticed by the coach of football section Arıcan Fikret, who offered to take the career as a footballer. On 25 January 1957, Bartu took part in a decisive manner to two meetings of their respective sports sections, scoring 2 goals and 2 assists with the football team Fenerbahçe and evening, with the basketball team, makes ten points which made it possible the Istanbul team to impose themselves on opponents to 44-43. In the mid-fifties, Bartu decided to abandon his career as a basketball player to engage in a definitive way that a football player, wearing the colors of Fenerbahçe, with whom the dispute five seasons, for two years and became the team captain and the tenth marker in the history of Turkish society. In 1961, he moved to Italy Bartu to Fiorentina, who raced with the final of the Cup Winners' Cup, becoming the first player to play in a final turkish mainland. The following year it was acquired by Venice, and in 1964, after a brief return to purple shirt, the midfielder moved to Lazio, with whom he played for three years. After several successful seasons spent in Italy, Bartu returned to Turkey in 1967 to play for Fenerbahce, his former team, for another three years. Can Bartu is one of the few athletes to have represented their national in two different sports, in fact, in addition to wearing the jersey of the Turkish national basketball, he played 26 matches, scoring 6 goals, even with the national team. He retired from racing in 1970, becoming a popular journalist and sports commentator. Bartu was the ambassador to Turkey 2008-2009 UEFA Cup, whose final was played at Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul.
