INFO:Bernd Rupp is former German striker. A fantastic outside left with very good dribbling skills at high pace who always looked for a straight way to the goal. Not known as a provider, Rupp was a goalgetter in his own right who was also often used as a center forward. Rupp’s main asset was his incredible acceleration. A player of relatively small height, he looked like a typical winger. For a serious international career the competition in his position was too strong, players like Erwin Kremers, Lothar Emmerich, Bernd Hölzenbein, Sigfried Held or Jupp Heynckes all stood in his way at different times in his career. Rupp still rates as one of the best goalscorers among wingers, having scored 119 Bundesliga goals in 274 games between 1965 and 1974. Very tricky and fast player, he run 100 meters in 11,6 seconds. Mobile striker with precise shot but not too strong. Rupp began in 1964 his career in the Regionalliga West at Borussia Moenchengladbach. Rupp played all 34 games and scored 24 goals. In the Play-off against SSV Reutlingen, Holstein Kiel and Wormatia Worms, there were also four more goals. In his first season in Bundesliga, in 1965/66, he played all 34 games and scored 16 goals. After the 1966 FIFA World Cup Germany coach Helmut Schon tried some new players. Bernd Rupp came on 12 October 1966 his only international match of his career against Turkey. Germany won 2-0 and Rupp scored the goal for 2-0 in the 85th Minute. In the same international match was also his national team debut Gerd Mueller. In 1967 Rupp moved to Werder Bremen, where he played for two years. In 1969 he came to the first FC Cologne and played again in the Rhineland. He finished his career in 1972-1974 again at Borussia Moenchengladbach. In 1973 he reached the biggest success of his career. He won the final - in the DFB Cup against his former club 1 FC Cologne 2-1. Bernd Rupp played a total of 274 Bundesliga appearances and scored 119 goals. Rupp became German Vice Champion twice - in 1968 with Werder Bremen and Borussia Moenchengladbach in 1974. With the first FC Cologne, he was in 1970 and 1971 respectively in the DFB Cup final. Even in the two UEFA Cup finals in 1973 against Liverpool, he was on the pitch. In 1974 he returned to the Hesse division side SV Wiesbaden.
