INFO:
Flemming Nielsen was a half-back. His career started in 1951 at B 93, where he remained until 1957. After spending three seasons at AB København, he signed for Atalanta where he made 99 appearances from 1961 to 1964, scoring 8 goals. He retired in 1967 after a short experience at Greenock Morton and a brief comeback to B 93. He capped for Denmark 26 times, scoring 4 goals.
Nielsen was a very good midfielder, athletic, powerful, gifted with solid speed, great technique, high stamina and tenacity. He imposed himself with his long legs and elegant style. Despite playing mainly in a defensive position, he ran everywhere in the field, being especially effective as additional attacker. He could make personal offenses where he would dribble the defenders and fire sudden low shots with good power. Otherwise, he could be a valid supporter with his very accurate short passes. His pinpoint balls were also quite good as he often triggered the attack from the back. Furthermore, he had a fine heading ability and was a good set piece taker who occasionally scored from free kick. He assisted Angelo Domenghini in the 1962-63 Coppa Italia final with a cross from free kick although Nielsen was acting as additional player in the back-line.
