Boris Gaganelov is a former Bulgarian footballer. Legend of CSKA Sofia, where he played for 14 years as a left back and central defender. Gaganelov was reliable player with good understanding with his teammates. He was defensive minded player able to send useful long passes from defence. Besides he was good in defensive duties with good positioning and well timed tackling and intercepting. Boris Gaganelov started to play for team Belasitsa in 1957 and stayed there for 3 years. Than in 1960 he moved on to CSKA and remained at the club until his retirement in 1974. In total he played in 350 games and scored 2 goals for CSKA in Bulgarian league. With CSKA he won Bulgarian league 7 times, in 1961, 1962, 1966, 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973 and Bulgarian Cup 6 times, in 1961, 1965, 1969, 1972, 1973, 1974. For NT he played in 51 games and captained it on 29 occassions between 1963 and 1970 and took part on 2 World Cups, in 1966 and 1970. He also holds a CSKA record with 37 games played in European Cups competitions and reached the semifinal of Cup of Champions in 1967. After his retirement from active playing, Gaganelov worked as a coach of Shumen and Armeec, as well as assistent coach of CSKA in 1993-1994 and Bulgarian NT in 1980-1982.
