INFO:
Janich was a sweeper and centre back. He spent the majority of his career at Bologna from 1961 to 1972, making 353 appearances. He played also for Atalanta, Lazio and Lucchese, where he retired in 1973. He gained 6 caps for Italy. Janich was mainly a sweeper, acting behind the other three defenders. He was gifted with imposing strength and could command the defence superbly. He possessed great sense of position and anticipation as well as good tactical awareness, stopping numerous attacks like a rock and tackling every ball with fairness. In fact, he never received a red card. He wasn't very fast nor agile and suffered 1-on-1 challenges because many opposing strikers dribbled him or avoided his tackles quite easily. On the other hand, he was elegant and had good technique, proved by his occasional pushes forward, dribbling some opponents, passing the ball and taking part to the attack of his team. He never scored but he sometimes tried to score with headers since he was good in the air. Usually constant in the performances, he was though unrecognizable when it wasn't his day.
